DESCRIPTION:The Whistler House Museum of Art (WHMA) is pleased to announce its upcoming Annual Juried Members Exhibition 2024. The show will run from November 16\, 2024 to January 25\, 2025. An opening reception will be held on Saturday\, November 16\, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Parker Gallery. \nThe Lowell Art Association\, Inc. (LAA) is the oldest incorporated art association in the country. In this year’s Annual Juried Members Exhibition\, explore works of art from the artist members of the LAA in a wide range of subjects\, styles\, and mediums. Through paintings\, drawings\, sculpture\, fiber art\, printmaking\, and photography\, experience the world through varying perspectives in this exciting new show. \nThe juror is Stephen Mishol\, Chair for the Department of Art & Design at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Mishol holds a BFA and MFA in Painting from the Massachusetts College of Art. \nHe is a recipient of a Fulbright Research Grant\, Artist Resource Trust Grant\, and two Mass Cultural Council Artist Fellowships. His work is included in the permanent collections of the DeCordova Museum\, Boston Public Library\, Fidelity Investments of Boston\, and many private collections. DESCRIPTION:Lowell Sun Charities is proud to present the 78th Annual Golden Gloves at Lowell Memorial Auditorium\, Thursdays from January 9 – March 6. Don’t miss a moment of one of the longest-standing New England sports traditions\, as the best amateur boxers from the area battle it out across the weeks to see who will be crowned champion. Thursday Night is Fight Night at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium! \nEvery year in the Golden Gloves they’re a new flock of boxers trying to work their way up from the bottom in hopes of advancing their way to top of the competition. The Gloves has been a tradition in New England since 1947 and sells out the Lowell Memorial Auditorium every year. “It’s only there to give kids a way out of a lifestyle and to promote the sport of boxing along with good health\, good training\, exercise and confidence.” \nWhen you win the Golden Gloves\, you don’t get paid\, you get the respect of your community; that’s very important to a young kid\, as it gives them confidence to build their life upon. \nLowell\, Massachusetts has a great tradition of boxing dating back 74 years ago. When you go to a Golden Gloves show in Lowell\, you know that it is unlike other boxing shows or any other sporting event in general. There is electricity in the air\, fans get a certain charge when they watch these fighters give every ounce of themselves for something that can’t be seen or touched. \nThis yearly event to the combatants is that\, it’s not about prizes; it’s about pride. Many of the fighters who range in age from 18-40\, are not even on a path to the pros or even the Olympics — they are simply there to say they fought in the Golden Gloves.

Back 2 Mac’s 40+ song list spans all the hits of the chart-topping Buckingham / Nicks / McVie era\, solo hits and early classics by Peter Green and Bob Welsh. Lush vocal harmonies and an easy-going playfulness with the audience distinguishes Back 2 Mac performances from those of other tributes\, a result of the combined years of music-making among the band members who have played and recorded with Leon Russell\, Bob Weir\, The Impressions\, Days Of The New\, Josh Ritter\, Anais Mitchell\, and Kevin Morby. Pooling their experiences into electrifying performances of Fleetwood Mac music\, Back 2 Mac play small theaters\, city-sponsored events\, and great rock and roll venues including City Winery (Nashville\, Philly\, Chicago\, and Boston)\, Brooklyn Bowl (Brooklyn); Headliners Music Hall (Louisville); The Bluebird (Bloomington IN)\, and Stephen Foster Amphitheater (Bardstown KY).
