Driven by youthful fire\, they believed in the promise of liberty more than they feared the cost of pursuing it.\nHistoric Beverly proudly presents The American Revolution: A story of the War in 28 Paintings\, a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition of artworks commissioned to illustrate Senator Henry Cabot Lodge Sr.’s landmark book.\nThese paintings are featured in Ken Burns’ upcoming documentary The American Revolution. The exhibit will be on display at the Cabot House from September 6\, 2025 to July 4\, 2026. Tickets are free and open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:The Umbrella Arts Center proudly presents the Boston-area premiere of The Counter\, a riveting new play by acclaimed playwright Meghan Kennedy. This production will run Sep 26 – Nov 9\, 2025\, transforming the intimate Black Box space into a prism for a surprising\, funny and moving reflection on the everyday connections that can change our lives. \nThe play is helmed by emerging director Alex Lonati in her Umbrella Stage debut\, and features Norton Award-nominated “ranney”* as Paul\, Margaret Clark as Katie\, and Norton and IRNE Award-winner Maureen Keiller* as Peg. \nThis award-winning play follows the unlikely connection between Paul\, a retired firefighter who goes every morning to the same small town diner\, and Katie\, who’s always there to pour the coffee. After many months of small talk across the counter\, the sharing of one secret grows into a deeply meaningful\, life-affirming friendship—shocking both Paul and Katie into embracing the hopes and joys born of basic human connection. \nThrough sharp dialogue and unexpected humor\, The Counter explores “secrets and grief and escape\, [running] away and starting again\, and most crucially standing in front of a suddenly opened door.” (New York Stage Review) \n“I’m excited that Boston audiences will have an opportunity to experience The Counter for the first time\,” says Performing Arts Director Brian Boruta. “It struck me as a thrilling surprise – a reminder that the most unlikely connections found in our everyday lives can have a monumental impact.” \nOriginally commissioned by Roundabout Theater\, it was called “an intensely provocative new American play” (New York Stage Review) by Kennedy\, whose other plays include Napoli\, Brooklyn; Too Much\, Too Much\, Too Many; and Light. DESCRIPTION:The Umbrella Stage Company is proud to announce the presentation of TICK\, TICK… BOOM!\, the autobiographical rock musical by Jonathan Larson\, directed by Ilyse Robbins**. From Friday\, October 10 through Sunday\, November 23\, 2025\, audiences will be invited into the creative crucible of a composer on the brink of his 30th birthday\, facing the crossroads of love\, ambition\, and artistic purpose. \nBefore Rent\, there was TICK\, TICK… BOOM!. This autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson\, the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning composer of Rent\, is the story of a composer and the sacrifices that he made to achieve his big break in theater. TICK\, TICK… BOOM! takes you on the playwright/composer’s journey through his quarter-life crisis that led to a Broadway blockbuster. \nHis girlfriend wants to get married and move out of the city\, his best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue\, and yet Jon is still waiting on tables and trying to write the great American musical. Set in 1990\, this compelling story of personal discovery is presented as a rock musical filled with instantly appealing melodies and a unique blend of musical theater styles. \nShows run Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30PM\, Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM. A special KidCare Show on Nov 2 will allow parents an opportunity to attend a matinee performance while their child(ren) ages 5-12 engage in art activities inspired by the show in one of The Umbrella’s classrooms with an experienced teacher.\nDinner & A Show packages are available for all Thursday night performances. DESCRIPTION:Pink Martini has sold well over 3 million albums worldwide on their own independent label Heinz Records (named after Lauderdale’s dog).In 2016\, Pink Martini released its ninth studio album\, Je dis oui!\, which features vocals from China Forbes\, Storm Large\, Ari Shapiro\, fashion guru Ikram Goldman\, civil rights activist Kathleen Saadat\, and Rufus Wainwright. The album’s 15 tracks span eight languages (French\, Farsi\, Armenian\, Portuguese\, Arabic\, Turkish\, Xhosa and English)\, and affirm the band’s history of global inclusivity and collaborative spirit. In 2019\, Pink Martini collaborated on a new release with the international singing sensation Meow Meow\, entitled Hotel Amour\, and also released two 5-song EPs\, Besame Mucho\, featuring regular guest singer Edna Vazquez\, and Tomorrow\, featuring regular guest singer Jimmie Herrod\, a finalist on 2021’s season of NBC’s America’s Got Talent.
