SUMMARY:ARTfull Play
DESCRIPTION:Each play-based hour of ARTfull Play features a unique opportunity to engage with art\, stories\, materials\, nature\, and new friends. The conversation and stories start just after 10:30 followed by close looking at the art and creations inspired by what we’ve seen and heard. \nEACH MONTH’S INSPIRATION:\nJanuary – Dan Graham’s Crazy Spheroid – Two Entrances\nFebruary – Richard Rosenblum’s Venusvine\nMarch – Arlene Shechet’s Tall Feather \nBest for children ages 1-4 accompanied by a caregiver\, older and younger siblings are welcome. \nWe’ll hold the program in the Park (light drizzle or shine)\, gathering near a different sculpture each month. In the event of a cancellation\, those registered will receive an email. \nFamily programs are designed to welcome a wide range of ages and abilities. Please contact us to discuss reasonable adaptations to benefit anyone in your group. \nEmail Sarah Brockway\, sbrockway@thetrustees.org if the price of the ticket is cost-prohibited for your family. \nPre-ticketing is required in order to anticipate capacity. Your ticket includes admission to deCordova’s campus\, so please feel free to explore the grounds before or after the program. You’re welcome to picnic in the Park. Bring your own picnic or pick up a bite to eat at the Twisted Tree Café\, and stop by The Store for a gift or souvenir.

DESCRIPTION:This February\, enjoy Affirmation of Life: Art from Today’s Ukraine\, presented at the Loading Dock Gallery in cooperation with the Ukraine Cultural Initiative. This colorful show celebrates life as well as Ukrainian heritage\, with work ranging from traditional designs to lush abstracts. Working in war-ravaged Ukraine\, the artists seek not only to make a living\, but to teach and support adults and children\, providing much needed healing through the universal language of art. “Art is like oxygen\,” says artist Lyubov Mineko. “It makes everyone feel comfortable. Comfortable in the individual existence and comfortable in communication with others. Art unites people.” \nAffirmation of Life: Art from Today’s Ukraine runs January 31-February 25\, 2024 at Loading Dock Gallery\, 122 Western Avenue\, Lowell\, MA; noon-5:30pm\, Wednesday-Saturday; until 4pm Sunday. \nReception 3-5pm\, Saturday\, February 3\, 2024.
