DESCRIPTION:This February\, enjoy Affirmation of Life: Art from Today’s Ukraine\, presented at the Loading Dock Gallery in cooperation with the Ukraine Cultural Initiative. This colorful show celebrates life as well as Ukrainian heritage\, with work ranging from traditional designs to lush abstracts. Working in war-ravaged Ukraine\, the artists seek not only to make a living\, but to teach and support adults and children\, providing much needed healing through the universal language of art. “Art is like oxygen\,” says artist Lyubov Mineko. “It makes everyone feel comfortable. Comfortable in the individual existence and comfortable in communication with others. Art unites people.” \nAffirmation of Life: Art from Today’s Ukraine runs January 31-February 25\, 2024 at Loading Dock Gallery\, 122 Western Avenue\, Lowell\, MA; noon-5:30pm\, Wednesday-Saturday; until 4pm Sunday. \nReception 3-5pm\, Saturday\, February 3\, 2024. SUMMARY:ARTfull February Vacation
DESCRIPTION:Create inspired by the question\, What is the Nature of the Museum? Construct a sculptures and structures by cutting and folding cardstock. Draw a detailed floorplan in a blueprint of your own Museum. Arrange blocks and more to create an imaginative interpretation of deCordova’s campus. How much can we add to the space over the course of 3 days! \nFind your own approach and/or collaborate to construct creative sculptures. Join us for a short time or the entire drop-in window. \nFor any age and an accompanying adult – all are welcome. \nWe’ll hold the program inside the Museum in the Dewey Family Gallery near the exhibition. In the event of a cancellation\, those registered will receive an email. \nFamily programs are designed to welcome a wide range of ages and abilities. Please contact us to discuss reasonable adaptations to benefit anyone in your group. \nEmail Sarah Brockway\, sbrockway@thetrustees.org if the price of the ticket is cost-prohibitive for your family. \nPre-ticketing is required in order to anticipate capacity. Your ticket includes admission to deCordova’s campus\, so please feel free to explore the grounds before or after the program. You’re welcome to picnic in the Park. Bring your own picnic or pick up a bite to eat at the Twisted Tree Café and stop by The Store for a gift or souvenir.
