Working in war-ravaged Ukraine\, the artists seek not only to make a living\, but to teach and support adults and children\, providing much needed healing through the universal language of art. “Art is like oxygen\,” says artist Lyubov Mineko. “It makes everyone feel comfortable. Comfortable in the individual existence and comfortable in communication with others. Draw a detailed floorplan in a blueprint of your own Museum. Arrange blocks and more to create an imaginative interpretation of deCordova’s campus. How much can we add to the space over the course of 3 days! \nFind your own approach and/or collaborate to construct creative sculptures. Join us for a short time or the entire drop-in window. \nFor any age and an accompanying adult – all are welcome. \nWe’ll hold the program inside the Museum in the Dewey Family Gallery near the exhibition. In the event of a cancellation\, those registered will receive an email. \nFamily programs are designed to welcome a wide range of ages and abilities. Please contact us to discuss reasonable adaptations to benefit anyone in your group. \nEmail Sarah Brockway\, sbrockway@thetrustees.org if the price of the ticket is cost-prohibitive for your family. \nPre-ticketing is required in order to anticipate capacity. How much can we add to the space over the course of 3 days! \nFind your own approach and/or collaborate to construct creative sculptures. Join us for a short time or the entire drop-in window. \nFor any age and an accompanying adult – all are welcome. \nWe’ll hold the program inside the Museum in the Dewey Family Gallery near the exhibition. In the event of a cancellation\, those registered will receive an email. \nFamily programs are designed to welcome a wide range of ages and abilities. DESCRIPTION:deCordova is pleased to welcome Melissa Ferrick to the New England Performance Series! \nMelissa Ferrick is a Professor of the Practice at Northeastern University in the Music Department at the College of Arts Media and Design. Ferrick teaches courses on songwriting (focusing on lyric\, melody\, and intent)\, creative entrepreneurship\, demo recording and production\, live performance\, the intersection of psychopathology and creativity\, nonprofit arts management\, and the music business. They have released seventeen albums over the last twenty-five years and won numerous awards for songwriting\, production\, and performance. From 2013 – to 2019\, Melissa was an Associate Professor of Songwriting at Berklee College of Music. She holds an Ed.M from Harvard University. \nMelissa is the named plaintiff of the class action lawsuit Ferrick v. Spotify for willful copyright infringement. Their publishing catalog is administered worldwide by the Raleigh Music Group. \nSigned to Atlantic Records in 1992 at the age of 21\, Melissa released their debut and sophomore albums on Atlantic after opening for Morrissey in the U.S. and UK. Melissa released three albums on W.A.R. Records from 1996 to 1999 and two on MPress Records from 2011 to 2014. In 2000\, Melissa launched the nationally distributed independent record label Right On Records. Ferrick is currently working with the venerable Kill Rock Stars Records. Most recently\, Ferrick started Drive Music Agency (D.M.A.)\, which offers musicians personal management and consulting services. D.M.A. currently represents Brennan Wedl and Joh Chase. \nRegarded in the industry and by their peers as one of the most prolific and hardworking artists in the business\, Ferrick is an active songwriter and performs throughout North America\, sharing the stage with Morrissey\, Joan Armatrading\, Weezer\, Tegan and Sara\, Mark Cohen\, Paul Westerberg\, Bob Dylan\, John Hiatt\, Ani DiFranco\, k.d. Most are harmless; some are helpful. A few are killers. Collectively\, infectious fungi are the most devastating agents of disease on earth\, and a fungus that can persist in the environment without its host is here to stay. In Blight\, Emily Monosson documents how trade\, travel\, and a changing climate are making us all more vulnerable to invasion. Populations of bats\, frogs\, and salamanders face extinction. In the Northwest\, America’s beloved national parks are covered with the spindly corpses of whitebark pines. Food crops are under siege\, threatening our coffee\, bananas\, and wheat—and\, more broadly\, our global food security. Candida auris\, drug-resistant and resilient\, infects hospital patients and those with weakened immune systems.
