Wyeth\, May Alcott Nieriker\, Charles Hovey Pepper\, Alicia Keyes\, and Elizabeth Wentworth Roberts\, among other artists\, as well as sculptures depicting noted Concord authors such as Nathaniel Hawthorne\, Henry David Thoreau\, and Louisa May Alcott. \nThe exhibition will also highlight Concord’s artist communities\, local art collectors\, the history of institutions promoting public access to works of art\, and the stories of specific artists who lived and worked in Concord. \nCurator tours will be offered Friday\, March 24\, at 11:00 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Friday\, March 31\, at 11:00 a.m. and 2 p.m. \nFree with Museum admission. DESCRIPTION:The Whistler House Museum of Art \nAnnounces Closing Reception for \nOut of the Vault: Works of Art from \nthe Whistler House Collection \nThe Whistler House Museum of Art (WHMA) is proud to have exhibited a selection of artworks from its permanent collection\, Out of the Vault. A closing reception will be held on Saturday\, April 15\, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Parker Gallery.  \nWe welcome visitors to experience the exhibition’s beautiful seascapes\, rural landscapes\, and ethereal portraits which perfectly capture the essence of the WHMA’s permanent collection. \nRolling hills and choppy waters are shown side-by-side in the museum’s Parker Gallery\, reflecting on the delicate balance of nature. These works of art further mirror the incredible paintings exhibited in the historic house\, which feature similar New England scenes and elegant figures. The exhibition includes artists Walter Lofthouse Dean\, Aldro Thompson Hibbard\, William Preston Phelps\, Mary Earl Wood\, Arthur Spear\, and many more. \nWith many works exhibited for the first time\, these paintings offer a wider glimpse into the WHMA’s permanent collection and the stunning art in its vault\, now brought out into the light of day. \nThe WHMA will hold a closing reception for the Out of the Vault exhibition on Saturday\, April 15th\, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Parker Gallery. The reception is FREE AND OPEN TO ALL. Refreshments will be served.

Wyeth\, May Alcott Nieriker\, Charles Hovey Pepper\, Alicia Keyes\, and Elizabeth Wentworth Roberts\, among other artists\, as well as sculptures depicting noted Concord authors such as Nathaniel Hawthorne\, Henry David Thoreau\, and Louisa May Alcott. \nThe exhibition will also highlight Concord’s artist communities\, local art collectors\, the history of institutions promoting public access to works of art\, and the stories of specific artists who lived and worked in Concord. \nCurator tours will be offered Friday\, March 24\, at 11:00 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Friday\, March 31\, at 11:00 a.m. and 2 p.m. \nFree with Museum admission. DESCRIPTION:Loading Dock Gallery presents 43.7623°N\, 69.3203°W\, a show of contemporary New England landscape painting. In August 2022\, Nan Hockenbury\, Heidi Jackson\, Bethany Peck\, and Noel Soucy traveled to Monhegan Island\, ME. For six days they wandered the island and painted plein air. 43.7623°N\, 69.3203°W knits together their diverse interpretations of those shared days\, each artist using her own point of view to speak of the island’s rugged landscape and dramatic views. \nHockenbury paints with interlocking lozenges of color\, translating boats\, houses\, and stones in jewel-like hues. Jackson evokes nature’s fleeting beauty with textured\, expressionist strokes and gentle colors. Peck responds to her island wanderings with intuitive abstractions\, focusing on the convergence of sky and sea. Soucy offers atmospheric images\, layered in texture\, an exploration of process as well as of the landscape observed. \n43.7623°N\, 69.3203°W runs May 3-28\, 2023 at Loading Dock Gallery\, 122 Western Avenue\, Lowell\, MA: open noon-5:30 pm\, Wednesday-Saturday\, noon-4 pm Sundays.
