The breweries will rotate each Thursday: \n9/7 Zero Gravity\n9/14 Lord Hobo\n9/21 Lawson’s Finest Liquid\n9/28 Mighty Squirrel \nAn estimated 1\,200 people participated in last year’s family and dog-friendly events which featured a\ndifferent Massachusetts brewery each week. \nTown Center Beer Garden & Local Business Thursdays is part of Burlington’s “placemaking” effort which\nis a people-centered approach to the planning\, design\, and use of public spaces. Each week we will venture onto the Great Hill conservation land next to the Museum and practice our science and naturalism skills together. Identify trees\, search for bugs and slugs\, and slow down to notice the rhythm of forest life. Our learning and exploration will build across all three sessions and focus on developing skills like observation\, making inferences\, communicating\, classifying\, and measuring. This program is rain or shine but will be cancelled for extreme inclement weather. \nWhen: Sundays\, September 17\, 24\, and October 1; 10:00am – 11:30am. Attendees should plan to attend and participate in all three sessions. \nFor whom: This program is for kids 6-9 years of age and their caregiver(s) to do together. SUMMARY:Henry David Thoreau Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that Henry David Thoreau was baptized David Henry Thoreau? Did you know that he willingly spent a night in jail in July of 1846 but had to be kicked out the next morning? Join us for a 90-minute\, two-mile walk where we will visit some of the places that were significant during Thoreau’s life and discuss the principles he lived by. We will begin where Henry taught school after graduating from Harvard College and where he spent a night in jail. We will visit his gravesite on Author’s Ridge in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery where you will learn about his family and his famous neighbors. If time allows\, we will walk past the house where Henry lived the last 12 years of his life. We will also visit the Concord Public Library to view photographs and sculptures of Henry Thoreau. The tour will conclude with tea at Barrow Bookstore. Our guide will also suggest other sites important in Henry’s life that you can visit on your own.
