The exhibit will be on display at the Cabot House from September 6\, 2025 to July 4\, 2026. Tickets are free and open to the public.

After many months of small talk across the counter\, the sharing of one secret grows into a deeply meaningful\, life-affirming friendship—shocking both Paul and Katie into embracing the hopes and joys born of basic human connection. \nThrough sharp dialogue and unexpected humor\, The Counter explores “secrets and grief and escape\, [running] away and starting again\, and most crucially standing in front of a suddenly opened door.” (New York Stage Review) \n“I’m excited that Boston audiences will have an opportunity to experience The Counter for the first time\,” says Performing Arts Director Brian Boruta. “It struck me as a thrilling surprise – a reminder that the most unlikely connections found in our everyday lives can have a monumental impact.” \nOriginally commissioned by Roundabout Theater\, it was called “an intensely provocative new American play” (New York Stage Review) by Kennedy\, whose other plays include Napoli\, Brooklyn; Too Much\, Too Much\, Too Many; and Light. Joined by bassist Dave Richards\, banjo player Boo Reiners\, and fiddler Kensuke Shoji\, this group of seasoned pros celebrates and interprets Garcia’s music on the instruments that first inspired him. \nMatt Turk\, a veteran multi-instrumentalist\, has performed with Pete Seeger\, opened for Judy Collins and the Doobie Brothers\, and played major venues from Lincoln Center to The Beacon Theatre. Lanzbom brings studio and touring credits with Bruce Springsteen\, Crystal Bowersox\, and Soulfarm\, and runs Sherwood Ridge Studio.\nDave Richards performs in Hamilton on Broadway and has played with Rosanne Cash and the Indigo Girls. Boo Reiners has collaborated with Steve Martin and The Klezmatics. Kensuke Shoji\, a Berklee-trained jazz violinist\, brings global influences and deep improvisational roots. \nTickets are $30 ($25 up to one week prior to the event) and may be purchased at https://newsongbedford.org. DESCRIPTION:Joel Bohy\, military historian and Antiques Roadshow presenter\, will give a lecture on Lexington’s Revolutionary War veterans at the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library on November 20\, 2025\, followed by a signing of his 2025 book\, Bullet Strikes From the First Day of the American Revolution. \nThe lecture will take a closer look at three individuals involved in the beginning of the war: John Robbins of Lexington who was badly wounded on April 19\, James Hayward of Acton who was mortally wounded at Fiske Hill in Lexington\, and a British soldier who was wounded in Lexington on April 19 and went on to join the Lexington militia and the Continental Army. \nThis lecture is co-sponsored by Lexington History Museums and the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library\, as part of America250 celebrations and SRMML’s 50th anniversary programming It will take place in person at the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library and will be live streamed by local community access partner LexMedia. From Friday\, October 10 through Sunday\, November 23\, 2025\, audiences will be invited into the creative crucible of a composer on the brink of his 30th birthday\, facing the crossroads of love\, ambition\, and artistic purpose. \nBefore Rent\, there was TICK\, TICK… BOOM!. This autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson\, the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning composer of Rent\, is the story of a composer and the sacrifices that he made to achieve his big break in theater. TICK\, TICK… BOOM! takes you on the playwright/composer’s journey through his quarter-life crisis that led to a Broadway blockbuster. \nHis girlfriend wants to get married and move out of the city\, his best friend is making big bucks on Madison Avenue\, and yet Jon is still waiting on tables and trying to write the great American musical. Set in 1990\, this compelling story of personal discovery is presented as a rock musical filled with instantly appealing melodies and a unique blend of musical theater styles. \nShows run Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30PM\, Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM.
