SUMMARY:Le Vent du Nord
DESCRIPTION:Belleville Roots Music Series presents Quebecois group\, Le Vent du Nord. The award winning and highly acclaimed band is a leading force in Quebéc’s exciting and progressive Francophone folk movement. The group’s vast repertoire draws from both traditional sources and original compositions\, while their highly rhythmic and soulful music\, rooted in the Celtic diaspora\, is enhanced with a broad range of global influences. Since first launching in August 2002\, Le Vent du Nord has enjoyed meteoric success\, performing well over 2\,000 concerts over 4 continents and racking up several prestigious awards\, including a Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros\, two Junos (Canada’s Grammys)\, a Félix at ADISQ\, a Canadian Folk Music Award\, and “Artist of the Year” at Folk Alliance Annual Gala. The group regularly appear on Canadian\, American\, French\, and UK television and radio and have participated in a wide variety of special musical projects that exhibit their great finesse and flexibility. They’ve collaborated and performed with a diverse range of artists including: Harry Manx\, Väsen\, Dervish\, The Chieftains\, Breton musical pioneer Yann-Fañch Kemener\, Québécois roots legend and master storyteller Michel Faubert\, the Scottish folk band Breabach\, Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis\, and the trans-Mediterranean ensemble Constantinople. Le Vent du Nord look beyond the standard approaches to tradition in their collaborations and they’ve also created a symphonic concert that\, according to Voir Montreal\, “puts all traditional folk naysayers to shame.” On stage these five friends create intense\, joyful and dynamic live performances that expand the bounds of tradition in striking global directions. This is the modern sound of tradition\, a music of the here and now. \nLe Vent du Nord celebrates their 20th anniversary this year. The group kicked off the milestone with a new tour\, 30 Printemps (30 Springs)\, of Quebec in May\, followed by a UK tour this summer\, and US dates this fall. Belleville Roots Music Series is excited to be hosting them again. Come for an evening of foot stomping\, hand clapping\, joyous Québécois music!! \nMore Le Vent du Nord at https://leventdunord.com/en/; Instagram: @leventdunordquebec; Facebook: LeVentduNord

SUMMARY:Nathan Carter
DESCRIPTION:Singing sensation Nathan Carter is a household name in Ireland. The highly acclaimed singer/songwriter boasts one the most successful live acts on the Irish music scene today. He has achieved huge chart success with five albums\, two singles and two music DVDs all reaching No.1 on the Irish music charts\, beating out artists such as Michael Bublé\, One Direction and Pharell Williams for the top position\, and ensuring a huge fan following to boot. \nAlready a music veteran at twenty-eight years\, Nathan’s life as a singer and musician started at the tender age of four. Born and raised in Liverpool\, Carter grew up in a family with strong Irish roots. He won All Ireland medals for singing and the accordion at just 12 years of age\, and became a member of the Liverpool Céili band\, before embarking on solo performances across Liverpool\, the UK and Ireland. \nWhile traditional Irish music was in his DNA\, country music also played a huge role during his formative years. Growing up his parents and his grandmother (Nan) introduced him to the world of Johnny Cash\, Waylon Jennings\, Don Williams and Dolly Parton. As he got older Nathan was further influenced by a new generation of country singers including Garth Brooks\, Vince Gill\, Shania Twain and Brad Paisley\, and soon he began performing a country music set on Liverpool’s pub scene. Equipped with his accordion and guitar and chauffeured from gigs in Liverpool\, London\, Birmingham and Ireland by his Nan\, Nathan began to develop his unique music style\, mixing elements of traditional and modern country\, celtic and pop music and attracting an expanding fan base.

SUMMARY:Livingston Taylor & Tom Chapin
DESCRIPTION:Livingston Taylor picked up his first guitar at the age of 13\, which began a 50-year career that has encompassed performance\, songwriting\, and teaching. Born in Boston and raised in North Carolina\, Livingston is the fourth child in a very musical family that includes Alex\, James\, Kate\, and Hugh. Livingston recorded his first record at the age of 18 and has continued to create well crafted\, introspective\, and original songs that have earned him listeners worldwide. \nFrom top-40 hits “I Will Be in Love with You” and “I’ll Come Running\,” to “I Can Dream of You” and “Boatman\,” the last two recorded by his brother James\, Livingston’s creative output has continued unabated. His musical knowledge has inspired a varied repertoire\, and he is equally at home with a range of musical genres—folk\, pop\, gospel\, jazz—and from upbeat storytelling and touching ballads to full orchestra performances. \nIn a career that spans six decades\, 26 albums and three GRAMMY awards\, Hudson Valley Troubadour Tom Chapin has covered an incredible amount of creative ground. In addition to his work as a recording artist and concert performer\, Chapin has acted on Broadway\, as well as working extensively in television\, radio and film. \nAs a music-maker\, the multi-talented singer/songwriter/guitarist has maintained two long and productive parallel careers\, both as a highly respected contemporary folk artist and as a pioneer in the field of children’s music. In both roles\, Chapin has established a reputation for insightful\, heartfelt songcraft and effortlessly charismatic live performances. He continues to engage the hearts\, minds and imaginations of young listeners with witty\, life-affirming original songs delivered in a sophisticated array of musical styles. In either format\, Chapin’s infectious songs\, sterling musicianship and personal warmth consistently shine through\, whether he’s performing on record or in a concert hall\, an outdoor festival\, a school\, in front of a symphony orchestra or in an intimate coffeehouse.
