In 2016\, Sugar Ray and his band The Bluetones released a CD on Severn Records called “Seeing Is Believing”. For that CD\, Sugar Ray was nominated for an unprecedented seven 2017 Blues Music Awards including Traditional Blues Male Artist and B.B. King Entertainer of the year.  \nDUKE ROBILLARD \nWhether it’s a song\, a style\, an idiom or an image\, Duke Robillard will render it with mastery\, power\, nuance\, and an unerring grasp of its essence. Born Michael John Robillard on October 4\, 1948\, in Woonsocket\, R.I.\, Duke has carved out one of blues’ most illustrious legacies\, while also trodding some lofty related territories as a guitarist\, vocalist\, songwriter\, bandleader\, studio sideman\, producer\, label operator and educator. \nDuke’s resume is decorated with Grammy nominations\, Handy Awards and Blues Music Awards\, and other honors for his artistry\, recordings\, and productions within the United States and internationally. His latest album is They Called It Rhythm And Blues. \nPremium Seats are available in the first several rows for each show. Go to the seat map on the ticketing page for each show to see the actual layout. We have reduced each row from 16 seats to 12 seats so we can provide increased space between patrons.  Seats 13 to 16 on the seat maps for each show have been deleted to allow for this additional space. Seats 1 through 12 are available for sale. \nKids age 12 and under are admitted free if accompanied by a ticket holder\, courtesy of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. \nAll sales are final. DESCRIPTION:In Climate Lyricism\, Min Hyoung Song articulates a climate change-centered reading practice that foregrounds how climate is present in most literature. Song shows how literature\, poetry\, and essays by Tommy Pico\, Solmaz Sharif\, Frank O’Hara\, Ilya Kaminsky\, Claudia Rankine\, Kazuo Ishiguro\, Teju Cole\, Richard Powers\, and others\, and others help us to better grapple with our everyday encounters with climate change and its disastrous effects\, which are inextricably linked to the legacies of racism\, colonialism\, and extraction. \nIn this talk\, Song shares his own writing practice\, and observations about literature as a powerful tool for change. He also dives deeper into his concept of climate lyricism—a mode of address in which a first-person “I” speaks to a “you” about how climate change thoroughly shapes daily life. This lyricism and its relationship between “I” and “you\,” Song contends\, affects the ways readers comprehend the world\, fostering a model of shared agency from which it can become possible to collectively and urgently respond to the catastrophe of our rapidly changing climate. In this way\, climate lyricism helps to ameliorate the sense of being overwhelmed and feeling unable to do anything to combat climate change. \nSong will be joined in conversation by Rochelle L. Johnson\, President of the Thoreau Society and Chair of Environmental Studies at the College of Idaho.

We have a remarkable opportunity to explore this idea for ourselves in the very woods Thoreau went to\, one of the most iconic terrains in history. In the Walden Woods Thoreau made so famous through his memoir\, starting from his Farmhouse birth room\, we will walk in Thoreau’s shoes\, literally in the woods in which he found his purpose and legacy in writing\, and metaphorically as we discover our own inner Walden and purpose. By going to this Workshop’s “Woods” to write\, this is a time you give yourself\, to act deliberately\, to honor your own identity as a writer\, and through the Workshop’s Thoreau’s word prompts\, to engage with yourself as an extraordinary being with “more lives to live.” \nDr. Barbara Mossberg is a prizewinning teacher and memoirist on the page and stage and in the air\, with recent books (Here for the Present\, A Grammar of Happiness in the Present Imperfect\, Live from the Poet’s Perch\, and Sometimes the Woman in the Mirror Is Not You\, and other hopeful news postings)\, in poetry\, essays\, one-woman plays\, and radio and podcast programs.
