This urban river run\, a mere 1.7 miles long\, is a high-octane ride over three sets of rippling rapids\, including Twisted Sister\, a massive bronco-busting wave. Trips include professional guides from Zoar Outdoor; the proceeds support the Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust.” – Boston Globe Magazine \nCome join us for early spring whitewater rafting on the Concord River\, just 30 minutes north of Boston\, Massachusetts. This urban whitewater gem plunges over three major class III-IV rapids – Twisted Sister\, Three Beauties\, and The Middlesex Dam. When the water level is right\, Three Beauties becomes an intensely fun surfing hole. Surfing involves paddling upstream into a wave or hole with the goal to fill the boat with water\, splash the entire crew\, or maybe even have the boat stand on end. We run this section twice on each Concord River rafting trip and welcome adventurous rafters 14 and older. Participants on this trip may be required to swim aggressively wearing a personal flotation device in rocky\, fast whitewater. \nA portion of the proceeds from this trip benefits the Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust\, working to preserve green space in the city of Lowell. \nThe Concord River rafting trip is a spring trip only. This trip runs on select weekends\, April through May. Additional weekday trips are available for groups of 12 or more. DESCRIPTION:“Squeeze into a wet suit\, hop into a raft\, and hang on! Whitewater rafting on the Concord River in Lowell happens only on weekends in April and May\, when rain and snowmelt swell the river\, producing Class III and IV rapids. This urban river run\, a mere 1.7 miles long\, is a high-octane ride over three sets of rippling rapids\, including Twisted Sister\, a massive bronco-busting wave. Trips include professional guides from Zoar Outdoor; the proceeds support the Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust.” – Boston Globe Magazine \nCome join us for early spring whitewater rafting on the Concord River\, just 30 minutes north of Boston\, Massachusetts. This urban whitewater gem plunges over three major class III-IV rapids – Twisted Sister\, Three Beauties\, and The Middlesex Dam. When the water level is right\, Three Beauties becomes an intensely fun surfing hole. Surfing involves paddling upstream into a wave or hole with the goal to fill the boat with water\, splash the entire crew\, or maybe even have the boat stand on end. We run this section twice on each Concord River rafting trip and welcome adventurous rafters 14 and older. Participants on this trip may be required to swim aggressively wearing a personal flotation device in rocky\, fast whitewater. \nA portion of the proceeds from this trip benefits the Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust\, working to preserve green space in the city of Lowell. \nThe Concord River rafting trip is a spring trip only. In this program\, meet Tarsha Ward\, Ph.D and learn about her work studying genetics and heart disease. From 1:00pm to 1:30pm\, hear Dr. Tarsha Ward share her personal journey as a young Black woman in science\, and ask her questions about why she finds science cool and exciting. Then\, try some hands-on activities inspired by different areas of Dr. Tarsha Ward’s work\, to include learning the parts of the heart and modeling the genetics of heart disease. Dr. Tarsha Ward is a biomedical scientist who works at Harvard Medical School. \nThis program series was created in combination with Ellice Patterson\, Biologist and Founder/Artistic and Executive Director of Abilities Dance Boston\, and a Discovery Museum Science & Engineering Communication Fellow.

This urban whitewater gem plunges over three major class III-IV rapids – Twisted Sister\, Three Beauties\, and The Middlesex Dam. When the water level is right\, Three Beauties becomes an intensely fun surfing hole. Surfing involves paddling upstream into a wave or hole with the goal to fill the boat with water\, splash the entire crew\, or maybe even have the boat stand on end. We run this section twice on each Concord River rafting trip and welcome adventurous rafters 14 and older. Participants on this trip may be required to swim aggressively wearing a personal flotation device in rocky\, fast whitewater. \nA portion of the proceeds from this trip benefits the Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust\, working to preserve green space in the city of Lowell. \nThe Concord River rafting trip is a spring trip only. DESCRIPTION:Loading Dock Gallery presents 43.7623°N\, 69.3203°W\, a show of contemporary New England landscape painting. In August 2022\, Nan Hockenbury\, Heidi Jackson\, Bethany Peck\, and Noel Soucy traveled to Monhegan Island\, ME. For six days they wandered the island and painted plein air. 43.7623°N\, 69.3203°W knits together their diverse interpretations of those shared days\, each artist using her own point of view to speak of the island’s rugged landscape and dramatic views. \nHockenbury paints with interlocking lozenges of color\, translating boats\, houses\, and stones in jewel-like hues. Jackson evokes nature’s fleeting beauty with textured\, expressionist strokes and gentle colors. Peck responds to her island wanderings with intuitive abstractions\, focusing on the convergence of sky and sea.
