SUMMARY:Acton Center Walking Tours - Friday\, April 12th
DESCRIPTION:Please meet Amy Cole at the Acton Memorial Library parking lot at 1:50 PM.  The walk is free\, but registration is required and capped at 20 attendees for each walk.  Registration links:  \n\nSaturday\, April 6th : http://tinyurl.com/APR-6-Cole \nFriday\, April 12th: http://tinyurl.com/APR-12-Cole  \n\nPatriots’ Day is coming soon! Get in the spirit by taking a nice walk while learning about some important Acton history. Because of the popularity of these offerings last year\, extra Acton Center tours have been scheduled with tour leader Amy Cole. Since its founding in 1735\, Acton has shown courage in protecting its liberties\, as demonstrated in leading the first engagement in the fight for independence.  Walking Acton’s historic civic center\, you will learn about the people\, places and practices that shaped the town’s history and our nation’s as well. Topics will include Native American history\, the role of the church\, the importance of Captain Isaac Davis and the Acton Minutemen\, nearby historic buildings\, memorials and more. The mile walk will take a little less than two hours.

SUMMARY:THE WALLFLOWERS
DESCRIPTION:A big part of the mid-90’s revival of roots-rock\, The Wallflowers ruled the airwaves with hits including One Headlight\, 6th Avenue Heartache and The Difference.\nRock ‘n’ roll is often hard to define\, or even to find\, in these fractured musical times. But to paraphrase an old saying\, you know it when you hear it. And you always hear it with the Wallflowers. For the past 30 years\, the Jakob Dylan-led act has stood as one of rock’s most dynamic and purposeful bands – a unit dedicated to and continually honing a sound that meshes timeless songwriting and storytelling with a hard-hitting and decidedly modern musical attack. That signature style has been present through the decades\, baked into the grooves of smash hits like 1996’s Bringing Down the Horse as well as more recent and exploratory fare like 2012’s Glad All Over. \nEven so\, in recent years\, Dylan – the Wallflowers’ founding singer\, songwriter and guitarist – has repeatedly stepped outside of his band\, first with a pair of more acoustic and rootsy records\, 2008’s Seeing Things and 2010’s Women + Country\, and then with the 2018 film Echo in the Canyon and the accompanying soundtrack\, which saw him collaborate with a host of artists classic and contemporary\, from Neil Young and Eric Clapton to Beck and Fiona Apple. \nBut while it’s been nine long years since we’ve heard from the group with whom he first made his mark\, the Wallflowers are silent no more. And Dylan always knew they’d return. “The Wallflowers is much of my life’s work\,” he says simply. \nPlus\, he adds with a laugh\, “It’s pretty hard to get a good band name\, so if you have one\, keep it.” \nGood band name aside\, that life’s work continues with Exit Wounds\, the brand-new Wallflowers studio offering. The collection marks the first new Wallflowers material since Glad All Over. And while the wait has been long\, the much-anticipated record finds the band’s signature sound – lean\, potent and eminently entrancing – intact\, even as Dylan surrounds himself with a fresh cast of musicians.

SUMMARY:Midnight Ride Dinner
DESCRIPTION:On the evening of April 18\,1775\, Paul Revere was summoned and given the task of riding on horseback from Charleston to Lexington\, approx. 12.5 miles\, to inform two leaders of the Sons of Liberty\, John Hancock and Samuel Adams who were staying in Lexington\, with the news that British soldiers stationed in Boston were about to march into the countryside northwest of the town. During his famous Midnight Ride\, Revere alerted the countryside of the British military movements with shouts of “the Redcoats are coming!” Not long after sunrise\, on April 19\, 1775\, Capt. John Parker led 77 local militiamen\, faced arriving British troops. Someone — still unknown to this day — fired a shot\, provoking the start of the American Revolution. \nLocated in historic Lexington\, MA\, the Birthplace of American Liberty\, the Inn at Hastings Park’s Town Meeting Bistro will be honoring this historic event with a NEW event – a Midnight Ride Dinner. Guests will enjoy a delicious 5-course Colonial-themed feast created by Executive Chef Alissa Tsukakoshi paired with local area brews and spirits from 8 pm-11 pm in a communal dining setting. This dinner is for adults only\, 21+. Dinner is bookable online. \nA nod to America’s Revolutionary era when town meetings were influential in New England\, where a town’s residents came together to discuss issues\, deliberate collective actions etc.\, Town Bistro Meeting owner (and Lexington resident)\, Trisha Pérez Kennealy\, named Town Meeting Bistro as a tribute to the form of government that has long been popular throughout New England. It is the essence of democracy as citizens represent themselves. It also celebrates what the Inn and Town Meeting is to Lexington — a place for people who live and visit the town to meet. \nGuests are invited to add an overnight stay at the Inn at Hastings Park so they can easily segway into attending the reenactment at the Lexington Battle Green the next morning on Patriot’s Day\, April 15\, 2024\, which begins at 5:30 am\, a 5 minute walk from the Inn.
