DESCRIPTION:Bronx-born and raised Chazz Palminteri wrote A Bronx Tale in 1988. The powerful one-man stage play depicted his bruising childhood which included witnessing a gangland killing when he was nine years old. Palminteri played 18 characters and brought them all to life in his autobiographical play. His friends\, enemies and family came alive on stage. Hollywood Studios went crazy after seeing it and offered him millions of dollars to turn it into a major movie. There was one catch… They wanted to put a star in the role of Sonny and someone else to write the screenplay. With $200 dollars in the bank…Palminteri said No… he would hold out and wait. He wanted to play Sonny and write the screenplay. Then one night Palminteri walked into his dressing room and sitting there was Robert De Niro who just saw the show. Robert DeNiro gave Palminteri the chance he was waiting for… And as they say in Hollywood the rest is history. \nPalminteri wrote the screenplay for the film A Bronx Tale and then most recently wrote the book for the Broadway Musical. It was the first time in history that the same actor wrote the one-man play\, the movie\, and the Broadway Musical and starred in each one.\nIn the past 35 years\, Chazz has appeared in over 60 films. To name a few – The Usual Suspects\, Analyze This\, Mulholland Falls\, Jade\, Guide to Recognizing Your Saints\, Legend\, and Bullets over Broadway\, which he was nominated for an Academy Award. He has starred in over 20 television series and has won 3 Emmy’s. Chazz is most recently seen in Modern Family\, Godfather of Harlem\, Law & Order and Gravesend.

Up next: Grace Gardner\, Sofia Lafuente\, and Farayi Malek! \nGrace Gardner\nRaised on the outskirts of a Texas city and now living in New England\, Grace Gardner is pushing the boundaries of the singer-songwriter genre. While their music adopts many of the genre’s characteristics\, Grace has found inspiration in their parents’ taste in ’70s and ’80s rock\, the folk roots of their Southern upbringing\, the heart of the sounds of New Orleans—where they studied neuroscience in college—and the lyric-forward storytelling they always return to. Taking it one step further\, producing all of their own music allows Grace to maintain a personal\, authentic touch in each of their songs. Their lyricism is evocative and emotional\, poignantly capturing the joys and tribulations of relationships\, recovery\, and identity—typically backdropped by thoughtful guitar and intricate production. \nGrace’s inspirations include eclectic powerhouse writers from the 1970s—Carole King\, Stevie Nicks\, Labi Siffre\, and Joan Baez. As they honed their own musical style\, finding the intersection between soft rock\, indie\, and folk\, they’ve drawn further inspiration from artists like Madison Cunningham\, Adrianne Lenker\, Andy Shauf\, and Madi Diaz. Grace plays ten instruments and incorporates orchestral\, brass\, percussive\, and software-based elements into their work. Along with being a singer\, songwriter\, and multi-instrumentalist\, Grace is also a producer and arranger. \nGrace’s debut EP\, *Peach*\, was released in March 2023\, featuring the lead single “Deny Me.” They have joined artists such as Adam Melchor\, Frances Forever\, and Tiny Habits on their headline tours and will embark on their first headline tour in early 2025. Her ethereal vocals and evocative storytelling have earned her a dedicated following. \nInspired by artists like Lana Del Rey\, early Shakira\, and Lizzy McAlpine\, Sofia’s music resonates with listeners drawn to vulnerability and emotional depth. Beyond her solo work\, she is a sought-after songwriter\, known for her distinctive voice and introspective lyrics. With a growing industry presence\, she continues to captivate audiences\, solidifying her status as an artist to watch. \nFarayi Malek\nFarayi Malek has traveled the world through music as a Grammy-nominated vocalist with Danilo Perez’ Global Messengers; and now musically\, she’s going back to her own roots. From the American folk music and hymns of her childhood\, to the blues and jazz she studied\, Farayi brings all of the diverse sounds and experiences of her life into resonant songs that allow her effortless vocals to shine. DESCRIPTION:Alex Cain will discuss the colony’s response to the British threat and examine the Massachusetts militia and minuteman system before Lexington and Concord.\nIn October 1774\, the Massachusetts Provincial Congress ordered the towns across the colony to prepare for war with England. In response\, the colony entered a wartime phase that included creating minute companies\, stockpiling arms\, ammunition\, and equipment\, and establishing a defense network ready to mobilize if the redcoats marched from Boston into the countryside. \nAbout the Speaker:\nAlexander Cain\, JD\, graduated from Merrimack College in 1993 with a degree in economics and from the New England School of Law in 1996 with a juris doctorate. He directs a Merrimack Valley-based vocational program that introduces high school students to advanced manufacturing and skilled trades careers. Alex is a well-respected and highly sought-after speaker who frequently lectures on the military and social influences of 1775 Massachusetts. He has published multiple research articles that have shed new light on the Battles of Lexington and Concord\, Bunker Hill\, the Siege of Boston\, and the loyalist refugee experience during the American Revolution. Alex has also published two books; We Stood Our Ground: Lexington in the First Year of the American Revolution and I See Nothing but the Horrors of a Civil War and is the author of the blog and podcast “Historical Nerdery.” He resides in Massachusetts with his wife\, Paula. They have two adult children\, John and Abigail.

DESCRIPTION:In Celebration of Lexington 250\, Voices on the Green will present 4 special shows of storytelling and music with themes that reflect the events of 250 years ago at First Parish in Lexington\, 7 Harrington Road. \nThe First Show—November 22\, 2024—will center on the theme “Better Together\,” focusing on stories and songs of interdependence. \nThe Second Show—April 4\, 2025—will center on the theme “On Our Own” and will focus on stories and songs of independence. \nThe Third and Fourth Shows—November 11\, 2025 and April 11\, 2026—will focus on themes that will emerge during the upcoming celebrations. We invite everyone to attend in person and have sought a grant to make each program available online. \nWhat is Voices on the Green? \nVoices on the Green presents unique evenings of true\, personal stories\, complementary music\, and the opportunity to meet those who make up our community. Since 2017 Voices on the Green has held these evenings at our historic First Parish Church on the Lexington Battle Green. Each one knits the strands of diverse individuals and experiences into a unifying theme. We share the proceeds of each show with a local organization whose values and mission serve Lexington and the surrounding communities. \nWhat will the First Show—on November 22\, 2024—be about? \nReflecting the events of 1775\, when disparate militia and community groups were gathering together to better prepare themselves for what might lie ahead\, this show centers on the theme “Better Together.” We will invite people who live or work in Lexington to share their stories about being better together to celebrate or protest\, to build or dissolve\, to remember or forget\, to invent or recover\, to find joy or escape trauma\, to combat injustice or work for peace. \nIf you have a story to share\, please contact us.
