SUMMARY:Henry at Work: A Conversation with John Kaag
DESCRIPTION:John Kaag\, the Donohue Professor of Ethics and the Arts at UMass Lowell and External Professor at the Santa Fe Institute\, joins us to launch his new book “Henry at Work: Thoreau on Making a Living.” Professor Kaag discusses what Thoreau can teach us about working—why we do it\, what it does to us\, and how we can make it more meaningful. Professor Kaag will be in conversation with Robert A. Gross\, author of “The Transcendentalists and Their World.” \n“The authors speculate that\, following the most recent recession\, the ‘Great Resignation’ might be an indication that in the aftermath of the pandemic\, Americans are finally ready to take after Thoreau’s example of living deliberately. … An inspiring book that will give you the succor you need to reconsider—and possibly change—the way you work.” –Kirkus Reviews\, March 11\, 2023
