SUMMARY:Middlesex Community College Presents: Darlene Love
DESCRIPTION:Rolling Stone Magazine has proclaimed Darlene Love to be “one of the greatest singers of all time” and that certainly rings true\, but perhaps Paul Shaffer says it even more concisely: “Darlene Love is Rock N’ Roll!” – which was made official when she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Bette Midler\, a great fan of her work\, in 2011. Through the years\, Darlene Love continues to captivate audiences worldwide with her warm\, gracious stage presence and superb performances. \nAt the Academy Awards\, Darlene sang her powerful acceptance speech on behalf of all of the performers in the winning film Twenty Feet From Stardom. As she raised the Oscar\, the entire house stood with a cheering ovation\, led by the wildly applauding Bill Murray. It was another special moment in a great career. A GRAMMY Award soon followed for the soundtrack of the film. \nSince the early sixties\, Darlene has appeared on numerous television programs and on Broadway\, running the gamut from her weekly appearances on Shindig to a recent guest spot on the PBS special entitled Women Who Rock. An autobiographical film is currently on the drawing board with a development deal from Oprah Winfrey based on the book My Name is Love\, written by Darlene. \nHer Billboard hits include: He’s A Rebel\, The Boy I’m Gonna Marry\, Wait ‘Til My Bobby Gets Home\, He’s Sure the Boy I Love and the #1 holiday classic Christmas Baby Please Come Home\, a song that she performed annually with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Symphony Orchestra on The Late Show With David Letterman for some 29 years before David retired. \nTo continue this long standing tradition\, Darlene performs a number of special Christmas shows every year and continues to enchant her fans with Christmas spirit.

SUMMARY:The Mavericks: En Español World Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Mavericks\, the eclectic rock and country group known for crisscrossing musical boundaries with abandon\, has gone through three distinct phases since it was founded in Miami in 1989. An initial period of heady success marked by big hits andcritical acclaim in the ‘90s. A long hiatus starting 2003 when the musicians each went their own way. And finally\, a triumphant reunion in 2012 which held long enough for them to recently celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary. Now\, The Mavericks have ushered in the fourth phase of their evolution with the #1 Billboard debut of their first-ever\, all Spanish album\, En Español\, released on the band’s own Mono Mundo label. Although all 12 tracks are in Spanish\, as the title suggests\, the collection represents a diversity of musical styles and cultural traditions\, from tender boleros to brassy mariachi to reimagined Afro-Cuban classics. Seven of the tunes are familiar gems drawn from the vast Latin American songbook\, while five\nare originals written or co-written by Malo. Like the band’s entire body of music\, this one album cannot be boxed into a single\ncategory. The songs are as diverse as Latin America itself\, and as cohesive as the ideal of the American melting pot. To season this rich musical paella\, The Mavericks add their signature country/rock/Tex-Mex flavors and a refreshing spontaneity to the\nmix. En Español flips the band’s usual fusion formula\, which adds a striking assortment of genres – salsa\, ska\, norteño\, mariachi\, and much more – to its sturdy rock/country base. Now\, the foundation is solidly Latin with streaks of irreverent rock and twangy guitars running through it\, all branded with the unmistakable Mavericks style. \nTHE MAVERICKS | NASHVILLE TN\nthemavericksband.com \nPremium Seats are available in the first several rows for each show. Go to the seat map on the ticketing page for each show to see the actual layout. We have reduced each row from 16 seats to 12 seats so we can provide increased space between patrons. SUMMARY:Gaelic Storm
DESCRIPTION:This multi-national\, Celtic juggernaut grows stronger with each live performance\, and as you can imagine\, after two decades and over 2000 shows\, it is a true force to be reckoned with. With their latest release\, Go Climb a Tree\, their music has never sounded more representative of themselves as musicians and as live performers.\nThe band attributes their continued success to their fanatic audience\, and it’s a well-diversified crowd for sure. The country-music folks adore the storytelling\, the bluegrass-heads love the instrumentals\, Celtic fans love their devotion to tradition\, and the rockers simply relish the passion they play their instruments with. Each band member\, in their own way\, expresses a deep gratitude for their fans\, but it’s best summed up in the words of Patrick Murphy: “The fans are the ones that have given us this life. We’re here for them.” \nOn Go Climb a Tree\, co-founders of Gaelic Storm\, Steve Twigger and Patrick Murphy\, along with longtime friend and co-writer Steve Wehmever\, are again at the helm of song-writing duties. The album has everything—party drinking songs (“The Beer Song”)\, patriotic anthems (“Green\, White and Orange”)\, beautiful folk songs (“Monday Morning Girl”)\, spritely instrumentals “”The Night of Tomfoolery”)\, perfectly poppy songs (“Shine On”)\, and even a raucous pirate song (“Shanghai Kelly”). When speaking of the overall concept of the album\, Patrick Murphy gives some insight: “With all the craziness and division in the world\, we wanted to make an album about ‘contemplative escapism.’ Go Climb a Tree certainly isn’t about dropping out of the conversation\, it’s just about taking a short hiatus to recharge the batteries before you take on the world again.” \nIn light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic\, Gaelic Storm\, originally scheduled for Saturday\, June 20\, 2020 at 7:30pm\, has been rescheduled for the 2022 Season\, and will now take place on Friday\, June 24\, 2022 at 7:30pm at Boarding House Park. All tickets for the original show date will be honored for the new performance date. If you bought a ticket online\, you will be emailed your ticket 4 days prior to the rescheduled concert. No action is required. If you have a physical ticket\, that ticket will be honored at the new concert date. If you are unable to attend the new show date\, please consider donating the value of your ticket purchase. As a non-profit music series\, your donation to Lowell Summer Music Series is a tax-deductible. By making a donation\, you are helping us to provide our community with quality entertainment in the months and years to come. For ticket holders unable to end the rescheduled date\, full refunds are also available. Given the volume of refunds and delayed credit card processing times\, it may take several weeks for the refund to post to your credit card statement. Refunds for rescheduled shows will be available until June 30\, 2021. \nPremium Seats are available in the first several rows for each show. Go to the seat map on the ticketing page for each show to see the actual layout. We have reduced each row from 16 seats to 12 seats so we can provide increased space between patrons. Seats 13 to 16 on the seat maps for each show have been deleted to allow for this additional space. Seats 1 through 12 are available for sale. \nKids age 12 and under are admitted free if accompanied by a ticket holder\, courtesy of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. \nAll sales are final. No request for cancellations\, exchanges\, changes or refunds shall be honored.

SUMMARY:Béla Fleck - My Bluegrass Heart
DESCRIPTION:“They nearly always come back\,” said BÉLA FLECK. “All the people that leave bluegrass. I had a strong feeling that I’d be coming back as well.”\nMy Bluegrass Heart\, out September 10\, 2021 on Renew Records\, is that return the 15-time Grammy winner is talking about – the third chapter in a decades-spanning trilogy which\, by his counting\, started with 1988’s Drive and continued with The Bluegrass Sessions\, released eleven years later. Over the long and lauded course of his unique creative run\, Fleck – the world’s premier banjo virtuoso and a celebrated musical adventurer – has both dug deep into his instrument’s complex global history and unlocked the breadth of its possibilities. My Bluegrass Heart is a homecoming in sound\, to be sure.
