SUMMARY:Lowell Summer Music Series: Belly
DESCRIPTION:The dream-rock band Belly blazed a bright trail in the ’90s\, releasing two albums full of taut\, yet wondrous music that was memorable for its rumbling bass lines and insistent drumming as it was for its glittering riffs and airy vocals. Their 2018 release Dove\, which was recorded with friend of the band Paul Q. Kolderie\, places Belly back on that trail\, bridging the gaps between reverbed-out bliss and spaghetti-western drone and muscular\, hook-forward pop. \nBelly came together in 1991\, when vocalist-guitarist Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses\, The Breeders) began playing with brothers (and fellow Rhode Islanders) Tom (guitar) and Chris (drums) Gorman\, as well as bassist Fred Abong. He left before the band’s 1993 debut Star came out\, and Gail Greenwood\, then playing around Providence\, joined. Star was a hit with critics and listeners alike\, spawning the alt-radio and MTV staple “Feed the Tree.” The band toured extensively behind the gold-certified album\, touring with the likes of Radiohead\, the Cranberries\, and Pavement and playing a show at the Hippodrome in Paris where they opened for U2 and the Velvet Underground. \nAdvance GA $55.00 ($48.00 ticket + $7.00 service fee) \nAdvance Premium $111.00 ($98.00 ticket + $13.00 service fee)\n\nDay Of GA $67.00 ($58.00 ticket + $9.00 service fee)\nDay Of Premium $122.00 ($108.00 ticket + $14.00 service fee)\n\nPremium Seats are low-to-the-ground chairs which we provide and are located in the first several rows for each show. Go to the seat map on the ticketing page for each show to see the actual layout. For photos\, please visit the the FAQ’s on the Lowell Summer Music Series website.  \nKids age 12 and under are admitted free (general admission seats only) if accompanied by a ticket holder\, courtesy of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. *\n*If this show is moved indoors due to inclement weather\, there will be no free kids ticket promotions due to capacity limitations\, only paid ticket holders may attend.

SUMMARY:Lowell Walks: Portuguese in Lowell
DESCRIPTION:Join researchers and archivists from the University of Massachusetts Lowell’s Portuguese American Digital Archive\, Nikki Tantum\, Gray Fitzsimons\, and Nicole Catarino on a walk around the Back Central neighborhood. In the late 1800s\, increasing demands for cotton cloth production provided jobs and opportunity for the first Portuguese immigrants arriving in Lowell. In the decades that followed more Portuguese immigrants moved to the city and wove their lives and cultures into the neighborhood of Back Central\, creating a new community that still exists today. \nThis walk will highlight these stories just as the photography exhibit “The Portuguese in Lowell: The Familiar and the New” does\, but through a different lens. This exhibit highlighting photographs captured by Pedro Letria is on display at the Boott Cotton Mills Museum through February 2025. \nJoin us for this upcoming Lowell Walks event\, a guided walking tour. Tours are about 90 minutes\, are free\, and include a moderate amount of walking. No reservations are necessary\, and tours are conducted rain or shine. \nFree parking is available where the tour meets: Portuguese American Civic League of Lowell\, 512 Central Street.

SUMMARY:Lowell Summer Music Series: Martin Sexton and Ryan Montbleau
DESCRIPTION:Headlining venues from The Fillmore to Carnegie Hall\, Sexton has influenced a generation of contemporary artists. His songs have appeared in television series such as Scrubs\, Parenthood\, Masters of Sex and in numerous films\, though it’s his incendiary live show\, honest lyrics\, and vocal prowess that keep fans coming back for a new experience every time. Sexton’s stated mission continues to be unity through music with a commitment to sharing peace and harmony through song. \nHonesty and vulnerability have been hallmarks of Montbleau’s career since the early 2000’s\, when he first began performing around his native Massachusetts. In the years to come\, he’d go on to collaborate with artists as diverse as Martin Sexton\, Trombone Shorty\, Tall Heights\, and Galactic\, and rack up more than 100 million streams on Spotify alone. Along the way\, Montbleau would share bills with stars like Tedeschi Trucks Band\, Ani DiFranco\, The Wood Brothers\, Rodrigo y Gabriela\, and Mavis Staples\, but it was his ecstatic headline shows—often more than 200 of them a year—that solidified his reputation as a roots rock powerhouse and an inexorable road warrior. NPR’s Mountain Stage compared his “eloquent\, soulful songwriting” to Bill Withers and James Taylor\, while Relix celebrated his “poetic Americana\,” and The Boston Herald raved that “he’s made a career of confident\, danceable positivity.” \n\nAdvance GA $55.00 ($48.00 ticket + $7.00 service fee) \nAdvance Premium $111.00 ($98.00 ticket + $13.00 service fee)\n\nDay Of GA $67.00 ($58.00 ticket + $9.00 service fee)\nDay Of Premium $122.00 ($108.00 ticket + $14.00 service fee) \n \nPremium Seats are low-to-the-ground chairs which we provide and are located in the first several rows for each show. SUMMARY:Lowell Summer Music Series: Classic Albums Live: David Bowie- The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
DESCRIPTION:Classic Albums Live and its roster of A-list musicians from across the country will be performing David Bowie’s “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” exactly as you remember hearing it\, note for note\, cut for cut. Founded in 2003 by Craig Martin\, Classic Albums Live takes the greatest albums and recreates them live on stage – note for note\, cut for cut\, using the best musicians. “Think of it as a recital\,” says Martin\, “these albums are historic and stand the test of time.” Forgoing costumes and impersonations\, Classic Albums Live has found success in concentrating solely on the music. “We don’t dress up or wear any sort of costume. All of our energy is put into the music. We want the performance to sound exactly like the album\,” says Martin. With 100+ shows a year across North America\, Classic Albums Live has seen massive success in performing arts centres and theatres. Fans in Texas\, Las Vegas\, Florida\, New York and central and east coast Canada have all continued to support the series and make it a sustaining\, successful show. “We created something that endures and connects. These albums are sacred to people. We deliver exactly what we promote – ‘note for note\, cut for cut’ accuracy.” And as the encore\, get ready for a selection of Bowie’s greatest hits\, promising an unforgettable evening celebrating the enduring brilliance of one of music’s legends. \nDavid Bowie’s 1972 masterpiece\, “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars\,” is a seminal concept album that follows the story of Ziggy Stardust\, a rock star who serves as a messenger for extraterrestrial beings. Bowie’s alter ego\, Ziggy\, becomes a symbol of rebellion and freedom in a dystopian world. The album features iconic tracks such as “Starman\,” “Suffragette City\,” “Moonage Daydream\,” and the title track “Ziggy Stardust\,” which blend glam rock\, proto-punk\, and avant-garde influences to create a theatrical and innovative sound. This album achieved significant commercial success\, selling over two million copies worldwide. With its captivating narrative\, bold experimentation\, and Bowie’s charismatic performances\, “Ziggy Stardust” remains one of the most influential and enduring albums in the history of rock music. \n  \nAdvance GA $42.00 ($36.00 ticket + $6.00 service fee) \nAdvance Premium $97.00 ($86.00 ticket + $11.00 service fee)\n\nDay Of GA $53.00 ($46.00 ticket + $7.00 service fee)\nDay Of Premium $108.00 ($96.00 ticket + $12.00 service fee) \n  \nPremium Seats are low-to-the-ground chairs which we provide and are located in the first several rows for each show.
